The OrthoSpace device, composed of a biodegradable and widely used medical material, was initially designed for chronic, massive, non-reparable rotator-cuff tears.

The OrthoSpace device is a biodegradable and widely used medical material. It consists of an introducer and a pre-shaped balloon which is made of Poly (L-Lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) which is a co-polymer of Poly Lactide acid and epsilon Caprolactone. This unique, proprietary “cold molding technology” allows OrthoSpace to manufacture 3-D biodegradable device in seemingly unlimited shapes. These biomaterials do not enhance adhesion or scar formation and can be sized and molded to virtually any body space or cavity.

By having the InSpaceTM balloon implanted between the acromion and the humeral head, a space is created between the bone structures; and has the potential for smooth and frictionless gliding.

The InSpaceTM Balloon was initially designed for chronic, massive, non-reparable rotator-cuff tears; enabling leverage of other muscles. The balloon may be inserted arthroscopically, or potentially, even with a mini-open procedure.
